Barrow Town Cricket Club

Club Cricket in the Leicestershire

& Rutland Cricket League

1st Team

A lack of consistency is the only thought that comes to mind to sum up the 1st XI season having finished the season in 8th place. On the plus side, there were a few spectacular games including a winning draw away from home against the league winners early on in the season, and chasing down 265 in a reduced overs game at Leicester Ivanhoe with one ball to spare, relieving some relegation pressure for the final few games.

Batsman of the season: Bhargav Modha

Bowler of the season: Ranjeesh Kumar

Onwards and upwards for next season, winter well and train hard! See you all next year.

3rd Team

After the success of last year, the Barrow Town 3rd 11 had high hopes for a strong season in 2014. However, this was not the case as they struggled to keep a consistent squad and used a total of 41 players through the season.

Out of the 22 games this year, 5 ended in victory - a double over both Quorn and Grace Dieu and a comprehensive win against Sharnford in their own back yard (which is always nice).

Standout performances this year with the bat included 5 scores of 50+, Nigel Blagg with the highest score of 67. With the ball, there were 3, 5-Wicket hauls, Sam Shipman with the standout of 6-55.

Awards this year went to:
Batting - Nigel Blagg
Bowling - Matt Taylor
